Welcome to the official site for Missoula's chapter of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School!

We host monthly life drawing classes unlike any you’ve been to before. We have high standards for our sessions.  We get great models, great costumes, and dynamic lighting as we commandeer a bar for an evening and get our sketch on. It's like art class, but without the class where models, artists, drinking and drawing collide in the perfect storm of creativity, skill, beauty, debauchery, and sketchy madness! 

We meet every third Sunday of the month, but keep an eye on this site for the real low-down as it happens.  That way you’ll know the latest about models, special events, special shows, special sessions, and any location/date/time changes that may occur.

Dr. Sketchy was birthed by artist extraordinaire and creative force Molly Crabapple in New York City and has spread to over 50 cities worldwide! Be sure to check out the mothership Dr. Sketchy website!

What to Expect

Normally a session consists of one or two models, tunes, your host and three rounds of poses:

A warm up round of quick 1 and two minute poses, a break, some drinks, some 5 and 10 minute poses, another break, followed by as many long poses (20-30 minute) as possible. There are always inventive contests and fabulous prizes announced during the breaks.

We keep things fast and loose, but we do have a few rules.

◦Dry mediums are preferred, as in ink, markers, crayons, pencils, graphite, pastels, etc. If we can clean up with a broom it is good. Other types of mediums are welcome, but you must clean up after yourself.

◦Be respectful. That means no groping at the models and no asking them out. Hooting and hollering, however, is encouraged.

◦No photography at the events. Our models are posing for life drawing. If you want to arrange for a photography session you should talk to them directly.

◦21 and up. This is a drinking event and held in a bar. 

◦Most of all, have fun.
